about

More than 40 years after its original release, the recording of the Marc Levin Ensemble’s Songs Dances and Prayers will be reissued, both on vinyl and digitally. Until now it has only existed in the original vinyl form, making it difficult to obtain, which is why we decided to make this magnificent recording easily available again. Though Marc Levin is often characterized as a Free Jazz musician, his compositions are known for melodic and rhythmic interaction influenced by cross-cultural experiences, as well as his long-term collaborations with Bill Dixon and Mal Waldron.

The selections on Songs, Dance and Prayers represent a summary of the music performed by his group from the late 1960’s to 1972, just before he moved to Europe.

We hope that fans from back then will enjoy a fresh vinyl copy, and that some recent fans of the genre will have a great first time experience, with this timeless musical gem.
